Things We Love – January 5, 2012
Happy New Year! Happy Everything!
Here are some things we love in 2012:
Listening
Great Aunt Ida is a fantastic band fronted by Canadian songstress (did we just type ‘songstress’?) Ida Nilson. Basically: local girl moves to Toronto, and makes gorgeous, delicate little music perfect for rainy January days. Lovely! Listen and watch here (then buy the new album, Nuclearize Me, on iTunes!). If these kids go on tour near you, you should see them.
Lawyering
We’re welcoming the newest addition to the Nixey Communications client roster: the good people at the Canadian Bar Association. Nixey Communications will be providing services for the 2012 CBA Canadian Legal Conference and Expo, the premiere annual event for legal professionals in Canada. Welcome aboard, team!
Keeping it in The Family
8 Questions and Two Imperatives for Sarah Nixey. (Is she mad that her brother took the family name and built this website? No one knows.)
Reading
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling. Hilarious book from the Executive Producer of The Office (she also plays the ridiculous/hilarious Kelly Kapoor on the show). Fluffy fun, with the perfect balance of shopping, dating, and comedy-writer-goes-to-Hollywood-and-hits-it-big anecdotes.
Liking
Friends & Company, Vancouver’s newest business networking organization for the GLBT community and their friends. The first few events have been wildly successful (and each sold out in just days!), so Like ‘em on Facebook to stay in the know. Also, Nixey Communications is a proud sponsor… what more do you need?
Horrifying!
This.
